Class descriptions:
Come and experience the benefits that yoga and Pilates can give you:
These disciplines strengthen your mind and muscles, redefine your body and redistribute your weight. Stretching and core strenthening techniques ease most back pain, while learning proper breathing enhances energy levels and overall flexilbility. These all ease daily stress and increase your overall health!
Gentle (Hatha) Yoga: All levels, including beginner. This class offers students who prefer a slower, gentler yoga practice to learn basic standing and seated postures with focus on proper body alignment, breathing, and form. Gain flexibility, balance and strength, reduce your stress and quiet your mind in this gentle class.
Slow Flow (Hatha) Yoga: All levels. We will explore fundamental yoga postures (seated, standing, balancing, twisting, basic inverted) and their alignment, emphasizing the power of breath, while learning basic slow linking of postures. Students have an understanding of the basic postures for this class, their proper alignment, breath techniques, and the Surya and Chandra Namaskaras (Sun and Moon Salutes). Do you run, cycle, ski or play tennis? Swim, golf, or work in the yard? Then this class can help you build strength + flexibility for ALL your activties, whether they are sports or heavy chores. The flow style of Hatha Yoga is an open system that changes and evolves with each practice. This meditation in motion, flowing from one posture to another on waves of breath, calms the mind and restores balance in the body.
Warm Vinyasa Yoga. Level II
Vinyasa is an open system of hatha yoga that evolves and changes with each practice. It is meditation in motion. Individuals are encouraged to practice at their own pace, using modifications to accomodate their needs. This class is a more athletic style of yoga suited to students in good physical condition.
Pilates Fit Body. Levels 1 and II
A thorough understanding of Pilates basics is required for this class. Keep your precision, flow, and breath while challenging yourself with added 1 or 2lb. arm/leg weights, and the Pilates Ring. This class steps up the intensity of mat Pilates and will increase your strength and coordination.
Pilates Fundamentals+ Beginner/all levels - six week series.
We will cover the fundamentals of Pilates mat work as taught by Joseph Pilates. You will learn alignment, proper breath techniques, and more. After the series, you will have a greater understanding of your body and your posture!
ZUMBA All levels: DITCH THE WORKOUT - join the Party! Zumba is a fitness class with high energy and motivating music that includes Latin and international rhythmns, with moves from salsa, merengue, cumbia, reggeton, flamenco, and hip hop! It's founder, Alberto "Beto" Perez, an accomplished dancer and inspiring trainer, created routines with fast/slow combinations which tone and sculpt the body through aerobic and interval training. It's FUN!

The eight limbs of yoga:
Tenets for taking your yoga with you into your life.
- Yamas – ethical precepts that transcend race, religion, time; i.e. no matter what race or sex you are, no matter what religion you practice, nor where you live in whatever time period, they still apply. They Yamas are:
Non-violence, truthfulness, non-stealing, sexual moderation and non-possessiveness.
- Niyamas – practicing the qualities of purity, contentment, austerity, study of sacred texts (of any religion) and seeing the Divine in all God’s creatures.
- Asan or Asanas – the physical postures to strengthen and balance all bodily systems and keep the body and mind free from pain, disease, and inflexibility.
- Pranayama – breath work - the measuring, directing, and controlling of the breath, and thus of energy.
- Pratyahara – sense withdrawal - either from attachment to external objects, or controlling the senses (what you listen to, what you allow yourself to view), or directing them in a focused manner.
- Dharana – concentration - means “immovable concentration of the mind” and refers to techniques used to induce keen concentration, which can direct you to the seventh limb, meditation.
- Dhyana – meditation.
- Samadhi – state of bliss. Means “putting together, joining or combing with”; referring to the union of the contemplator with the object of contemplation. In Samadhi, we “stand inside of” our true Self in preparation for the ultimate state of classical yoga, the eternal aloneness of that Self in the purity and joy of its being.
